Plasterboarding

A carefully prepared background for the finish that follows.

A finish built
around the project.

Plasterboard can be used to line walls and ceilings, form partitions and prepare new spaces for plastering. We discuss the support, board type, fixing approach and required performance before agreeing the work. The Ubbeston photographs show boarding around a pitched ceiling and glazed entrance.

Linings, ceilings and partitions

Different spaces call for different lining arrangements. The supporting structure, service routes, openings and final finish affect how the boards are set out. A neat board layout matters, but the underlying system and fixings matter just as much.

Board types and performance

Fire, acoustic and moisture requirements relate to a specified assembly, not just the colour or name of a board. Board layers, framing, insulation, fixings and junctions must be considered together. We do not claim an unverified performance rating for the Ubbeston project.

Mechanical fixing or dot and dab

The method depends on the background and design. Direct bonding may be suitable in some circumstances; framed or mechanically fixed solutions serve different requirements. We confirm the proposed method after reviewing the wall, moisture conditions and service arrangement.

Ready for plastering

Openings, edges and joints should be prepared for the chosen finishing system. Services and any inspection requirements should be coordinated before they are concealed. The quotation should distinguish boarding from skimming, insulation or other preparation so there is a clear handover between stages.

A few useful questions

Do you offer dot and dab?

Yes, where it is suitable for the background and project specification.

Are the Ubbeston photographs verified?

Yes. They come from the Ubbeston Internal Plasterboard Works folder. They show the boarding stage, not a decorated finished room.
